Red petals cover the paths and water fills the pond,
Light rain fall thick and fast to sport a fine day.
At the bleak apricot garden a cuckoo cries:
Do what one may, spring is going away!
Alone I go up the painted tower by the willows,
Leaning on the railings, I twist a twig of flowers.
Wordless I spread the petals and face the setting sun,
But this sorrow of mine, who knows?
